WiFi Explained in Detail | Wifi 802.11 a, b, g, n, ac
What is 2.4GHz or 5 GHz ?
-All the communication that we do like with mobiles , WiFi or bluetooth etc all these work on radio waves . Radio waves or electromagnetic waves have large spectrum means a big band differentiate by their different power or waves . their are some band which are reserved for ISN bands . these are type of band which can be used for like remote control car , microwave oven , bluetooth or Wifi etc . therefore these two bands are very common normal uses i.e-2.4GHz or 5GHz . much more the frequency much more the speed but range decreases according to higher frequency .
In 2003 a new standard invented named as 802.11g . In this standard they combine the advantages of 802.11a or 802.11b . this standard works on 2.4GHz which make larger range and speed upto 54Mbps . In 2009 a new standard developed named as 802.11n . In n standard their are two different bands one is 2.4GHz and other is 5GHz band and both operates individual . both speed upto 600 Mbps preety good range . this is a preety much intresting standard therefore we still mostly use this standard .
Recently in 2013 a new standard is developed called 802.11ac . the maximum speed in this standard is 1.3Gbps and works on 5GHz
Which router you should buy - bets buy wifi router 802.11ac router
If you use 5GHz wifi router then less range but less interface also .
WiFi is very old technology and first time it was invented in 1997 by an organisization named as IEEE (institute of electrical and electronics engineer ) . in 1997 they develop a standard named as 802.11 WiFI . these numbers are just a protocal depending upon communication , at that time speed of this standard is 2 MBPS at that time this speed is enough comparing technology at that time .
After that they make two new standard in 1999 named as 802.11a and 802.11b . a standard is for the use of commercial , industrial or offices purpose and the b standard is for home and domestic purpose uses . WiFi 802.11a standard works on 5GHz frequency and his speed was 54Mbps which is a great speed at that time and the WiFi 802.11b works on 2.4 GHz frequency and his speed was 11 Mbps .
